Henry hasn’t said whether he will sign the bill.
“Governor Henry understands that public health advocates have been pushing for state regulation of the practice, but until he has an opportunity to review the final legislation, he will withhold judgment on it,” Henry spokesman Paul Sund said Wednesday.
This is nuts. You can download and read the bill right now online. What is not to decide?
The bill was amended in the House to prohibiting anyone under 18 from getting a tattoo or allowing a tattoo parlor to be located within 1,000 feet of a church, school or playground.
That’s nuts. Given how many churches there are in Oklahoma, the only place you’ll be able to have a legal tattoo parlor is well out in the country. But anyway I guess even the bill isn’t perfect, something is better than nothing.
Here’s the state senate nutburgers who voted AGAINST giving Okies the freedom to get tattoos. (I still can’t believe how many folks embarassed themselves by voting against this bill).
