About the Author: My name is James Matthew Branum. I’m in my early 40’s, very happily married and a step-Dad to a really cool son. My family and I lives in far Northwest Oklahoma City (in the Deer Creek area), but I’ve spent good parts of my life living in Lawton, Pine Ridge, Newcastle and Weatherford, Oklahoma as well as Austin and San Marcos, Texas.
Like most native-born Okies, I have a mix of white and American Indian ancestry.
I am the Minister of Peace and Justice at Joy Mennonite Church of Oklahoma City. I also am the legal director of the Center for Conscience in Action..
My hobbies/interests include: bicycling, organic gardening, painting and drawing, watching movies, reading, blogging, music and traveling.
My political views lean in the direction of Christian Anarchism (in the vein of Dorothy Day and Tolstoy). I sometimes am supportive of the Green Party as an interim step, but generally think non-electoral forms of activism are a better way of seeing real change happen. — Also I should mention that my views have changed a lot over the years, so if you read my early blog posts you can see how far I’ve come and how my views have evolved over the time.
About this blog and what it stands for: I have written this blog/website for a long time (starting as a personal webpage in 1995 and moving towards being a blog starting in 1999).
I’ve written about a lot of things: peace activism, political commentary, gardening, bicycling, the arts, Oklahoma, theology as well as a fair bit about my life.
Lastly, please note that this blog represents my views (at a given point of time) and only my views. Unless I say otherwise, I am not representing anyone else when speaking on this blog.
