- I found one of the better (and in my mind) more reasoned statements of why the war in Iraq COULD be right (if you accept war as ever being righteous, which I do not). I’m quoting here in the interests of free thought and considering another POV.
Quoted from: Law Muse:
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a prominent German theologian who stood against the Nazi regime and was ultimately hanged for helping Jews escape, originally started out as a pacifist. Bonhoeffer eventually joined the Abwehr and helped in an assassination plot against Hitler. He explained his change of attitude to his sister thus:
“If I see a madman driving a car into a group of innocent bystanders, then I can’t, as a Christian, simply wait for the catastrophe and then comfort the wounded and bury the dead. I must try to wrestle the steering wheel out of the hands of the driver.”
Michael Novak, at a private seminar recently conducted at Notre Dame, made the important point that even those who oppose war cannot necessarily do so with clean hands. If delay and negotiations with Saddam result in only giving him more time to stockpile weapons and ultimately attack and kill U.S. citizens, opponents of war will not be free from blame.

Also Christine from Law Muse has a post that I do agree with regarding Roe v. Wade.
